About Our Pastor
Reverend Thomas L. Artis was the eighth of nine children born to the late
Fairlie and Mary Lee Artis, in August of 1957, in Buffalo, New York. Reverend Thomas L. Artis confessed Christ in August,
of 1969, and was baptized at the Promiseland Missionary Baptist Church in Buffalo, New York, under the leadership of the late
Reverend Twilious Davis. While there, Reverend Thomas L. Artis served on the Jr. Usher Board and was a part
of the Youth Choir. At an early age, Reverend Artis realized the importance of Serving the Lord, and working in His
vineyard.
Under the leadership of the present Pastor of the Promiseland Missionary Baptist
Church, Reverend Charles Jennings Jr., Reverend Thomas L. Artis continued to served on many Auxiliaries, including the Transportation
Ministry. It was at the Promiseland Missionary Baptist Church, that Reverend Thomas L. Artis was chosen to become a
part of the Deacon Board, and he began his Deacon Training. After many years of serving the Lord at the Promiseland
Baptist Church, the Lord led Reverend Thomas L. Artis to the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Lackawanna, New York, where he
completed his Deacon training, and was odrained a Deacon in January, of 1991, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Wendell
S. Hamner Sr.
While at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Reverend Thomas L. Artis continued to
work for the Lord. Reverend Artis served on the Usher Board, and was a member of the Youth and Young Adult Choir, and
Male Chorus. Reverend Thomas L. Artis served as a Youth Leader and Sunday School Teacher, and was on the Board of Christian
Education. He also served in the Transportation Ministry.
Reverend Thomas L. Artis answered the call from the Lord into the Ministry in
June of 1993. Reverend Thomas L. Artis preached his first sermon and was liscensed on August 1, 1993, at the
Ebenezer Baptist Church of Lackawanna, New York.

In September of 1994, Reverend Thomas L. Artis was joined in Holy Matrimony
to the former Joyce Ann Cobbs of Buffalo, New York.
Reverend Artis has four children. Lottina Renee, Thomas Lee, David Matthew,
and Michael Aaron.
On July 1, 2001, the Lord chose Reverend Thomas L. Artis to become Pastor of
the First Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church of Buffalo, New York, where he is continuing his work in God's vineyard.
As he preaches God's Word, souls are being saved and added to the body of Christ.
In March of 2006, Reverend Thomas L. Artis started a World-Wide
Web Site to help those that may be lost find Jesus Christ through Salvation, and to strengthen and encourage
Christians on thier journey. Pastor Thomas L. Artis was also blessed to have a Television Ministry from March
2006 to June 2006, as an effort to further reach and evangelize those who are lost or sick and shut in.
